Whether it’s for a week or two or for Summertime should be a wonderful time for kids. We’ve planned nine great weeks of camp for the guys and girls in your life that will make their vacation days the greatest days of the year. It’s a fun, safe place your children! There are nine weeks of Day Camp centered around the beautiful wooded campus of The Chapel in Green, Ohio. The facilities are great, just right for an awesome time all summer long. Plus, we sometimes take trips to nearby lakes and pools for swimming. Every day is packed to the fullest. It’s the people of camping who make those memories. Parents tell us our staff makes their kids feel loved and important. All of our workers are carefully screened and trained, and we think you’ll find no better staff anywhere. We work to help campers build good relationships with adults and other kids. Camp is like a big family that encourages and strengthens each other. We’ll do what it takes to make sure your child “fits in” and feels at home with the other kids. Our campers enjoy learning a lot as they have a great time. They go home feeling that they’ve spent the day with good friends who really care about them as individuals--as well as an important part of the group. It’s just the thing for kids enjoying their first camp experience, as well as for “seasoned pros” who’ve been to camp before. We’re planning everything carefully to make each week great. We expect many weeks to fill up quickly. So plan on selecting your weeks soon so you won’t be disappointed by a full camp. Just wait until you see what we’ve planned for your kids. We’ll make sure your child has a safe and fun time every day at camp! We can hardly wait!
What is it like? Day Camp begins each morning at nine o’clock and ends at four each afternoon. In addition to the one-time registration fee of $15 for each camper, the weekly fee is $99 ($89 for the first week in July, as there is no camp on Friday, July 4 that week). Campers whose registrations are received by May 15 will receive a free camp backpack your first day of camp. Campers are assigned to teams with other kids near their age. The loving Kids Ministry staff of The Chapel directs the camp. Kids of all church backgrounds are welcome to participate. After a quick meeting in their team rooms, campers enjoy the all-camp Opening Rally with great music, lots of fun and a quick, high-energy Bible study. While at the Rally, campers enjoy the daily “Wake-Up Call” with its noisy team competition. It’s a great way to start the day. The rest of the day is divided into seven 45-minute activities (we call them “acts” like in a play) where campers will enjoy crafts, the water slide, character-building Bible studies and team fun. There’s a short Closing Rally at the end. Kids will enjoy some activities with the entire camp and others with just their teams. Camp becomes a family as kids “hang out” with friends and learn to love and appreciate their counselors and the camp staff. Your kids will look forward to each new day. Not long before camp begins you should check back for a Parents Information Newsletter with all of the details you’ll need to know. You can download it from this page. Camp is more than a vacation — it’s the best weeks of your summer! Weeks fill up fast, so sign up today! Registration forms may be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
About our Day Camp Camp Straight Street is a Christian camp with the perfect combination of fun, adventure and Christian character training. It’s for both guys and girls who will enter kindergarten (and are already at least five years old) through those entering 8th grade in the fall. There are lots of activities for everyone, with something for each interest and age. Campers play our famous “Carpet Ball”, shoot pool and enjoy appropriate video games in the Kids Workshop. That’s also the home of “The Filling Station,” our snack shop where kids can “hang out” with friends while they enjoy lunch or a snack. Camp Straight Street offers everything from nature studies to sports to swimming at nearby places. Kids enjoy making a mess while creating something amazing in the Craft Shop or working to earn points to help their team become “Team of the Week.” Camp is not “too hard” for little kids while being “really cool” for older campers. Attendance at Camp Straight Street is open to all children regardless of race, color, religion or ethnic background. Please remember that Camp Straight Street is a Christian camp that teaches biblical principles to our campers. Participation in the camp is a privilege, not a right. In order to participate in camp, campers must be able to successfully function in a large-group community setting. While all children make mistakes while growing up, for the safety of our campers we cannot accommodate children who do not properly relate to authority, do not show respect for other campers or who will not submit themselves to camp rules and policies. This information included in this website and in the camp brochure represents the official policies of the camp unless you have received other information in writing.
Hints in paying for camp Your camp registration form must be accompanied by the $15 registration fee and at least one week’s camp fee. You may pay by cash or by check (made payable to the camp). Only your payment holds a spot for your child’s first week at camp. Payments for additional weeks may be made by Electronic Funds Transfer if you like. When you register, complete and sign the form we’ll provide, authorizing us to transfer funds from your bank account to ours when you tell us to. Funds are transferred on the Friday before each week of camp begins. This form is a contract asking us to hold a spot for your child, but without your paying for it until the Friday before each week of camp. (Once the original authorization is signed by you, you can email us authorizing additional weeks.) · Print out an EFT form here. Note that the two pages must be printed back to back. You may also pay in cash or by check for each week your child will be with us. But once again, only your signed EFT form or your payment will hold your child’s place. Once all places are filled, we will be unable to accept additional campers, so plan ahead! You’ll save lots of time by making payments in advance. We’ll provide payment envelopes for your use in making future payments. Paying in advance will prevent your waiting in line when you’re in a hurry. And again: only your payment in full will hold your reservation for a specific week. Don’t be disappointed by a full camp. You may also make deposits to your child’s Snack Shop account, allowing your child to make purchases for snacks or lunch without carrying cash.
How do I apply? Print out a registration form. You will need to complete one registration form for each camper. Your registration form must be accompanied by the $15 registration fee and the $99 camp fee for the first week. Campers whose registrations are received by May 15 will receive a free camp tee-shirt. Mail the form and the payment to the address at the top of the registration form. As weeks of camp fill up, applications are accepted in the order they are received, so register early. To pay for additional weeks, simply send in your payment or authorize us to make an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from your account to ours after 5:00 pm on the Friday before each week begins. REMEMBER: ONLY YOUR PAYMENT OR AUTHORIZED EFT FOR A PARTICULAR WEEK WILL HOLD YOUR RESERVATION. Enrollment is limited and payments are accepted in the order they are received. Do not face the disappointment of a full camp that cannot accommodate your child. Remember also to deposit money in your child’s Snack Shop Account. This allows campers to make purchases for snacks and lunch at the Filling Station Snack Shop without carrying cash.
