This original production written by Pastor Herb Owen features 140 kids and tells the story of God’s plan for the ages. It will be presented in the worship center of the Green Campus on Friday evening, November 21 at 7pm and Saturday morning, November 22 at 10am. Tickets are not required.

I have announced that Sunday, December 28, will be my last day with you as Pastor of Kids Ministries at The Chapel. In January I will become Pastor of Children and Family ministries at a church in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.

As you may know, I moved here just over six years ago from Birmingham, Alabama. My son, Jonathan, is still there as youth pastor (and director of the Camp Straight Street I began there.) My mother and Marilyn’s mother are still in Virginia. We miss them a lot.

For a while now we have felt the need to be closer to our family, and God has gently shown me that my work here at The Chapel is complete.

This, of course, is hard. I have really grown to love you guys here as we have served and laughed and grown together. The Chapel is a wonderful family. Its emphasis on grace is refreshing. It is a great church.

None of us were here when The Chapel began almost 75 years ago. We all enjoy the privilege of being a part of this local church for a time, and one day we all will pass it on to others.

Between now and the new year, I will continue doing the stuff I do. We have a musical to do and lots of other things to enjoy together.

You are my friends now and always will be. On my Facebook page are hundreds of people I first met as kids who are now teens or adults. Although I don’t live where they live, we are still friends. We talk when we can. Sometimes we see each other, but we never stopped loving each other. It will be the same with you.

So know that although my body won’t be with you, my heart will. You guys are great. I can’t wait to see the adults you will become.

Thanks for letting me be a part of your life, and thanks for being a part of mine.

You guys are the best!

One November Sunday afternoon a while back Pastor Herb, Marilyn and Timothy climbed aboard the Goodyear Blimp and took a spin around town. The pilot asked Herb, “Where do you want to go?” “Can you take us to the Green campus of the Chapel?” Herb asked.

Every so often we get requests from other churches to use the resources they find on this website. You may use anything you find here at your church with our blessings and prayers. You may also change it or adapt it in any way that will better suit your needs (such as cutting and pasting parts of a lesson, etc.) Drop us a line and tell us what you are using and how are you using it so we can pray for your ministry.
